Pat Dews

Pat Dews, AWS, NWS, is one of those rare experimental artists who always pushes the abstract art envelope. She is a graduate of The Fashion Institute of Technology, New York City, is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, the National Collage Society and the National Association of Women Artists.She is an enthusiastic, popular instructor, teaching workshops internationally. Pat is the author of Creative Composition & Design and Creative Discoveries in Watermedia, published by North Light Books. Also available is the DVD "Designing Great Starts with Texture and Form". Her work has appeared in numerous books and publications.

For the aspiring artist who works ventures towards abstract painting or mixed media, Pat Dew's "Let's Get Started Finishing" is a inspirational gold-mine. Pat takes us through the process of completing several paintings that are still in-process and. In doing this, the viewer is helped to develop an eye towards seeing how abstract shapes, colors and textures can be mixed and altered in order to bring a painting to its fullest expression.

In the DVD's 11 chapters we are shown briefly how to start a painting in order to get a stronger sense of how to finish. Other chapters explore cropping, altered surfaces, collage, scraping and strata. "Lets Get Started Finishing" is filled with many other tips and techniques that will help us take our very own paintings to the imaginary "finish line".
